Private (Pvt)
The starting rank, these are generally the newer or casual members. They are bulk of the unit. They represent the unit, follow and support the unit and their comrades.
Lance Corporal (LCpl)
Lance Corporals have begun to show minor leadership and loyalty. These members have been enlisted for a period and have shown support, loyalty and comradeship. This is first step into leadership training.
Corporal (Cpl)
Corporals are the Assistant Squad Leaders, They have shown leadership and have displayed the experience to lead a squad. They look after the Private ranked members. Corporals are growing in their leadership training, tend to take on other jobs within unit.
Sergeant (Sgt)
Sergeants are the Non-Commissioned Officers whom lead their Platoons/Squads. They are respected leaders and show comradeship and loyalty to the unit and maturity in conflict resolution. They are in-tune with the needs of their squad. Sergeants are responsible for the members of their squads/platoons and may take on other jobs in unit.
Staff Sergeant. (SSgt)
These are Experienced NCO's whom have continued to build and show qualities of a sergeant. Run platoons. Staff Seargeants are usually specailists within a Company. They maybe a Pioneer, Explosives, Sig, MP or Lingusit as a sub speacilisation.
Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2)
The first of the Seargeant Major Ranks. Roles similar to CSM but in Units of smaller size. Assist CSM/RSM in maintaining discipline and Welfare. Advise Platoon Commander on promotion reccomendations from Pvt to LCpl.
Company Sergeant Major (CSM)
They are responsible for the platoons within their company. they tend to the well-being of their platoons and collate feedback from the platoon sgts for growth and promotions. CSM will be the Liason between the officers and the company.Advise Commanding Officer ranks on promotion reccomendations from Cpl to Sgt
Lieutenant (Lt / 2Lt)
Lieutenants are beginning of Commissioned Officers. They Tend to assist the Capt or Commanding Officer of the company. Strong Leadership and Experience has been displayed along with devotion, commitment & loyalty. Look after Everything within their company. Second Lieutenant is the traditional training role for new Officers.
Higher ranks from Capt and up are restricted to board members. However I will explain:
Commanding Officer (CO)
The commanding officer of their company. They liaise and oversee all that goes on within their company. They organise growth and structure. Responsible for promotions/demotions.
Officer Commanding (OC)
Responsible for Headquarters and in assigning roles and tasks to companies. Usually aided by small staff. Executive Officer, Adjutant ( Responsible for Officer welfare and discipline) and regimental driver ( Transport Coordinator for CO) may also have a batman for personal upkeep.
